History
The name of our community : « New Alliance » comes from the Bible. It is a reference to the institution of the Eucharist on Maundy Thursday – the celebrated alliance between God and every one of His children.
Luke 22:19-20 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
Hebrews 8:10 (New International Version) 10This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
Foundation
On 14 September 1994, 15 years ago, the religious community New Alliance started and was recognized by Bishop Dubigeon in the diocese Seez, the native land of St Therese of Jesus the Child.
After a few removals in the diocese, in 1992 the sisters arrived in La Chapelle Montligeon, a little village of Perche, well-know for the sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of Liberation.
They were settled in the old presbytery of Abbot Buguet, the founder of the sanctuary.
After the depart of the benedictine sisters of Montmartre in 2000, the bishop engaged them in the liturgical animation of this important place of prayer, visited by the pilgrims of all the world, who come to entrust to Our Lady the most forsaken souls of purgatory.
In 2006 the sisters, who had wished to establish their mother house, learned that a property of almost 2 hectares and just 100 metres from the old presbytery is on sale.
Thanks to the generosity of benefactors, the bank loan was granted and the estate was obtained on 11 August of that year.
In 2007 the first works were started: the transformation of two small buildings into cells for 5 sisters. In 2008 and 2009 the fittings of the chapel as well as the construction of the kitchen, refectory, meeting room and office were completed.
On 1 June 2009 Bishop Boulanger inaugurated and consecrated the convent Our Lady of the Living Waters, in the presence of the parents and many friends.
